  • Sayano-Shushenskaya HPP

In the Republic of Khakassia, in the mountains of Western Sayan there is a unique masterpiece of HPP-constructors and engineers – world famous Sayano-Shushenskaya HPP. Hydroelectric power plant launched in 1978 and quickly gained the status of the greatest and most powerful stations in Russia. Today its power capacity is 6,400 MW
  • The legendary dam

The design of the dam has no match in the world. The length of the ridge is more than a kilometer and the height is 240 meters! The concrete spent on it would be enough to build a 4-lane highway from St. Petersburg to Vladivostok or to lay out a pathway to the Moon
  • Stronger than Niagara

The dam holds 32 billion tons of water every second. Two spillways responsible for the safety of the station can handle up to 17 thousand tons of water in a second, which is comparable to the power of three Niagara Falls
  • Fabulous Nature

The station is built in one of the narrowest places of the great Yennisey River. HPP is surrounded by a unique nature – there are more sunny days here than on the Cote d'Azur, and the diversity of flora is astounding
  • About the tour
The tour will start at the foot of the dam near the “Conqueror of Yennisey” memorial. Then you will visit the construction museum and the “heart” of the station – the engine room. Further along the way will be the most impressive part of the route – ascent to the crest of the dam and the observation deck. From there you will enjoy a breathtaking view of Sayan mountain ranges
